Try calling child protective services.
Usually they can get your foot in the door.
They also work with families who want to become foster parents.
That is something else you can do, become a foster family, you will be given children to care for in all age ranges, and sometimes some of the children are put up for adoption, you will be allowed to petition and adopt children, and the state will pay you for it.

I would start by calling your local social service agency. They should have resources, and even classes that help you get started in the process. You may also think about hiring a private adoption attorney, as they will be more interested in protecting your rights before and after the adoption as opposed to an agency. Good luck to you!

Try calling an attorney who specializes in family law. Most of them will answer a question or two over the phone at no charge. If you want an infant, you'll have better luck getting one this way if you do a private adoption through an attorney and not an agency.

Check with your local social services and childrens homes, however be prepared that most children adopted this way are older. Place an ad in your local paper something simple ( check other papers for these to get an idea of what to say). Check with local attornies and see if any of them deal in adoptions or can refer you to a reputable adoption agency for your area. Get the word out as well

Find an adoption agency, or visit an orphanage or foster home in your area.
Good luck!
