Go to a career counselor and take a career test. Those tests don't test ur apptitude, they test ur attitude and interests. They'll compile all ur answers and pick out four careers which people like u are most likely in. And so u have a choice to make. If that helps u, pick a career u like off of their list and go for it. I did that, and I picked teaching. I am also like u...good in english lit, and loves journalism, but I cant drive, so going to differnt spots to gather info to write a newspaper article wouldn't be practical for me...but there are buses to all the schools around where I live. If ur sitll in high school, or college, take an intro to journalilsm class, or intro to writitng class or something like that and see how u like it. Not everyone in journalism has to be the outgoing type. U can be the person who writes what the broadcaster reads as the news is broadcasted. U can be an editior. I'm sure there are other things a shy person can do as well. U can write books and things. I don't think journalism is only limited to feild reporting. Good luck in ur quest for ur right career.

If you do not know what you really want to do with your life yet, be careful about listening to other people right now. You can end up in some crap job. If you are in college, get as much education as quickly as possible. Don't mess around because it may be your only opportunity. Later, it will be the key to open the door to the job you finally realize you want to do. For now, you won't go wrong getting a gov't job, law enforcement if possible. They will give you the best benefits and pension, etc.

Amy Tan was very shy. She started writing books as a way to communicate and be heard (without having to talk in front of people.) She wrote the Joy Luck Club and Sagwa and other things. She's famous now. Maybe you would enjoy writing.

You may have some reservations about speaking to the public (being shy), but you may have a talent or gift of speaking. There may be a teacher/professor or a writer in you. You may have to get past your discomfort with public speaking to get to what may be your destiny.

You should be a writer. as long as it is suited for your gender, it should be OK. since you are a young woman you should strive to have a "pink collar" job. I believe that men and women should have seperate career paths. God made men and women differently and we as a society should appreciate those differences more.

Do what you love. To do this, you should first figure out what you love, then find or create a job that allows you to do what you love and get paid for it.
