Does anyone know who give what speeches at a wedding reception. I am just looking for an over all basic outline to work with.

at the rehearsal dinner, pretty much anyone can give a toast...especially close friends and family that will not be giving a toast at the reception. At the reception, should be best man, maid of honor, father of the bride and even parents of the groom if you want! My brother is also giving a toast at my reception...

at the wedding reception the best man,Maid of honor,parents or maybe even someone from the grooms family can give a toast at the reception.

Just make sure whoever it is---won't say anything derogatory or negative--embarassing either of you!!!!

I was at a wedding where the best man toasted and said a few words about the couple living together and not everyone knew that they were cohabiting for the past 3 years!!!! since he was in college!!!!!and about the problems they had to overcome!!!
OOOHweee!!! no one even thought they ever disagreed!!!
how embarassed the bride was!!! (though she should have thought of that prior to moving in with him!!)

Generally one by best man and maid or matron of honor but some can be done by parents, may also be done at rehearsal instead.

Agreed. Make sure you know who will speak and have them on your program. Avoid mess.
