Dogs are very territorial. Yorkie's are terriors which are a very excitable. Let the cat and Dog figure out there relationshipfor themselves. Also, understand that cats, dogs and humans socialize very differently it will take time for the dynamics of these relationships to work themselves out. Just remember a dog needs an owners approval/acknowledgement more than cats dont forget to acknowledge your yorkie without the cat.

If the dog hasnt experienced another pet in his home the dog is simply used to being by himself. It's not that it is necessarily WHO the dog is (that is, the dog's personality) but it could be just what he's used to in his environment. The kitten is a stranger and it will take the dog a while to get used to him. But after a while the dog will realize that the kitten is here to stay, and is now part of the family...when he recognizes the kitten as part of his group he'll start being more friendly. To help the situation out, make sure you arent giving more attention to the new kitten, so that the dog feels left out and starts to resent the kitten. Try playing with both animals at the same time, giving them each attention so they realize that you love them both!

Read the "Dog Whisperer."
Your dog is acting spoiled. He is not a snob or a loner. Dogs are all pack animals and are happiest when they are.
He thinks he is the boss of the house. Is he?
Can you walk him on a leash without him throwing a fit? Can you take food away from him without any growlng? You should be able to.
You need to read about introducing a new pet to your dog. It may not be too late. That kitten needs to be part of his pack, and YOU and any other humans the pack leaders.
If not, your dog runs your house. It can end up with him biting someone or tearing your house apart, out of frustration.
Little dogs can be holy terrors.
Good luck.

Yorkies tend to get along with all animals, but they also get very jealous of other showing affection to owners. Your yorkie will get bigger and will get bolder with the cat. Try first playing with the dog for awhile away from the cat. Then bring the cat into the mix, if the yorkie starts to shy away then bring him back. Do that a few times and I am sure they will soon not need you start their games. Good Luck!

It's because the kitten is new.
The dog used to have your full attention, but now he (or she...you didn't specify) has competition. You probably also brought lots of new things into the house with,or for, the kitten that the dog has never seen before. The dog's personal space has been violated!
Give the dog time, and an equal share of attention.Ol' poochie will come around in its own good time.....unless it really is a snob.

My dog is terrified of cats, so I think yours doesn't like it when he knows the cat is comfortable in a situation and doesn't feel on edge, as the dog may feel it has the 'upper hand'. You just need to give it time, I'm afraid, and let your dog get more comfortable with the cat. My dog has got a bit better (he used to scream)!

Yorkies are a very bossy breed. They need to be top dog always. Maybe he is a little jealous of the new cutie in the house.

Give it a bit more time.. The dog just needs to get acquainted with the new addition. It's jealously of course right now, but with time I'm sure the barrier will be torn down and they'll be inseperable..

MOST dogs do not like cats. It is THE LAW...
You just have to be lucky...like ME!
I have two dogs...a pit mix and a MIXED whatever small dog and a CAT who thinks she is a DOG...
She attacks the dogs and cleans them like a momma cat...
My dogs lover her...but do get annoyed with her cleaning them and chasing but they accept her like a doggy...
SHE was a kitten...uh puppen or koggie when she was given to us...
She is very odd indeed...she hates to be touched unless she wants to be petted.
Your dog needs to be reassured that YOU love him and do not force them to love each other...
Why I bet that he looks at her in great brother dog love!
Your kitty will be bigger than your Yorkie...Yorkie might be scared...
Just be patient when they get used to each other they will at least be able to share you!
