When your boss talks to you, you don't have to play-act or pretend any particular emotion or response.
You should listen to what he is saying, pay attention, don't let your mind wander, and react however is appropriate. If you stand there nodding your head like a bobble toy, you aren't going to make a great impression on anyone! Looking straight into someone's eyes can be disconcerting -- like you were trying to hypnotize him or something. Just be natural, act naturally and react naturally. He's only a boss -- he isn't going to bite you!

Talk to your boss in a professional manner. Look at him while he is talking, remain calm. If you have an opinion,share the opinion in a calm , upbeat manner. Speak respectfully. If he angers you, count to ten on the inside. Right or wrong, he is the boss.
