Logic dictates that if you are legally allowed to homeschool, say, high school, then you should also be able to homeschool kindergarten. Maybe what they're saying is that education must be started by age 5, that you don't have the option to delay homeschooling to age 6 any longer?

Hope not! If so, work to change the law.
Parents should interact with children,
not the state...

Homeschool kindergarten is lots of fun. This
would fulfill any "mandatory" law.

Totally depends on where you live. If you are planning on putting your child in school, I would recommend it. It gives a nice transitional phase between home/preschool and grade 1, where structure and academic demands are very different. The 'social skills' in kindergarten are about learning how a classroom functions: raising your hand to speak, asking for permission to go to the bathroom, following teacher directions, staying in your seat when required, getting used to speaking in front of others, things like that.

If you are planning on homeschooling (this is the Home Schooling section), you'll need to find out how to go about that where you live if it is required by law.

Kindergarten is extremely important as it teaches children social and educational basics. I don't think it's mandatory because my brother skipped kindergarten.

Check with your state law @ hslda.org. For homeschooling in Nebraska you do not have to register a child until he/she will be be 6 by January. In Arizona you do not have to file until 7 years of age. So check with hslda.org, each state is different.

In most states yes. It is the foundation of a childs education where the child learns social skills and start leaning basic grammar and writing skills that will prepare him/her for the first grade.

No, but it makes your child better prepared for the school year. Teaches discipline and socialization skills.

check out the laws for where you live on this website:

Kindergarten is not required in the state that we live in either ... children must start attending school the year in which they turn 7.

HTH!
