always keep lifting weights, don't stop. However, you should lift weights like 2 times a day for like 2-3 weeks and this will increase muscle production. Then just one time a day. But if you want to gain weight just eat good ole protein right after you lift and this will increase muscle the most.

Hi there!
Your best bet is to work with weights, doing compound exercises and introduce "weight gainer" nutrition powder to your diet, since it gives you a lot of nutrition with the calories. If you just eat cheesecake all day, you will gain weight but be soft. By hitting the iron, your muscles will breakdown and buildup bigger if supplied with good fuel, which the weight gainer should give you.
I believe this answers your question, but if not let me know.
Good luck with your diet and fitness goals!

if you don't work out you will gain fat rather than muscle. It would be much healthier to continue with the cardio and lift weights.
If you increase your dietary fat you will gain weight. You need to eat calorie dense foods. But be sure you eat healthy fats. No trans fat and limit saturated fat particulary from dairy and meat.
Dark chocolate is a healthy option. Another good source of healthy calorie dense foods with good fatty acids are nuts and seeds.

Eat lots of carbs - pasta, bread, big meals. Eat twinkies. If you're working out, too, the fat won't be jiggly it'll turn into solid weight. G'luck.

Instead of exercising using cardio, do Weight lifting every second day and eat lots of protien. you can not weight lift every day... it doesnt work like that. The first day your muscles tear down. And the second day (of rest) they grow.

Do it together, no point in gaining fat, then trying to burn it up.
