My kitten maybe 4mo old always climbs next to me when I am laying down or sleeping and will put its head right next to mine and if I move my head, he tries to move his face to be right up under my chin. Is that bad?? How do I get him to sleep in his own cat bed. also he just jumps on my bed like its his

Nothing is wrong with this unless you roll onto your cat and smoosh it

You mentioned that he jumps on your bed like it's his. He has no concept of yours and mine. He is being with you in the sleeping den, and is very friendly about doing it.

It's nice that you have a warm little friend. Cats are social creatures that will sleep together or near each other if possible, in domestic situations. (This is only if they trust each other and are used to each other's company).

Cats like warmth, and I'll frequently find my cat on the bed with me in the morning.

Cats form strong attachments with their people, if allowed to do so. For example, my cat could go lay near a heater for warmth, but she lays on the bed with me.

Your kitten laying under your chin may be bothersome... how about putting it down by your feet, instead? Or just lift it up and put it behind you if you sleep on your side. Sometimes kittens have to be moved many times, but if they are picked up and put somewhere else that they will equally enjoy, eventually it becomes too much work for them to keep invading your space.

If you want your kitty to not sleep on your bed at all at night, you may have to put it in a kitty crate which has a comfortable bed in it. Be prepared to hear some meowing in protest as it gets used to this arrangement. Also, don't sleep in... you will have to let the kitty out early in the morning so it can use its litter box and get a drink of water. (If you put a waterer in with an active little cat, it will likely be spilled, and it won't dehydrate just overnight).

Be kind, firm and consistent in dealing with your little friend. Never punish a cat by hitting or hurting it in any way.

Enjoy your kitty!

It's not bad as long as you keep it flea-free. It's a cat! It can, and usually will, go where it pleases. You should know that before you get one. But, a spray bottle could work, although I don't use that with my cats. It makes them afraid of water if they aren't already. I make a sound something like a hiss and they understand I don't want them there, or to stop what they are doing. Have fun, it's a long term investment seeing as they live up to or more than 20 years.

Cats like to sleep where it is warm and they are comfortable. If you are ok with the cat sleeping where it is then it should be fine. My cat likes to sleep anywhere near my or my boyfriend's legs, she'll sleep behind them or in front of them, this morning I woke up with her on my stomach because she chouldn't get behind my legs. You cat may grow up a little and move to other spots but if you allow the cat to sleep with you and the bed that is likely where the cat will always prefer.

Some cats like sleeping on or next to your head. I don't like it so I had to train him to stay below my waist. That took a long time. All of my other cats throughout my life sleep next to my feet or legs. When I was married the prefered spot was bretween us. He had warmth and security.

I tried teaching my cat to sleep in his bed and eventually i just threw the bed out. Its pointless...lol. My cat likes to sleep the same way yours does and I think its sweet. He wants to be where he can feel your heart beat most likely. It resembles a closeness he would feel w/ his birth mother if she were there. I just wrap my arms around my cat and enjoy the snuggling.

My cat does the same. I love it, cuz if he is with me then he aint terrorizing my apartment. Plus its cute when he cuddles up to my neck. He is a sweetie. Dont worry about rolling over on him, he will wake up and move. Plus, you will feel him there. You should feel ever so gratefull. He is also showing how much he loves you. Dont worry about the bed thing, you know its yours and thats all that matters. Sleep tight!!!!

NO!!! my 5 month old (neutered) male and my 2 year old (spayed) female cat both climb into bed with me every night. the boy sleeps above my head on my pillow and the girl sleeps right beside me. personally, it would feel kind of weird not having my cats lay with me at night. they purr the whole time and their purrs help me fall asleep. it's very relaxing! just make sure that you don't fall asleep with your face buried in their fur. that can't be good!! HIH!!! Good Luck!!

If you do not like sleeping with a cat you should not have gotten one.
Cats like to sleep with their owners and there is nothing wrong with that!
Cats have MINDS of their own...you cannot make them sleep where YOU do not want them to.
They will sleep anywhere they want.

End of story.

My husband works into the night and also has an early morning paper route. He came home between his jobs one morning and crawled into my side of the bed. I asked him what was wrong with HIS side. He told me it was infested with cats. All three of them were lined up on his side of the bed. One of them usually prefers my pillow. Mind you, there can be 10 pillows on the bed, but the only one that remotely interests him is the one my head is on. Another one is usually plopped on one of our feet. But yeah..pretty normal.
