I don’t have kids, but I’m dating a girl who does. She’s always complaining that her boys are spending too much time on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games. I remember actually going “outside to play”. Do parents ever limit “inside activities” anymore?

I do .. my kids only get t.v or computer time based on if the chores they are assigned are done, homework is complete and other factors. they also know that we will not allow them to sit online or in front of TV for more than 3 hours at a stretch. We are an active family and do a lot of hiking and beach/lake going so getting my kids outside is no problem. Kids learn by example. if they don't want to get unplugged... unplug them and take them somewhere it is not available and show them this great country of ours. Even if it is your local museum, park, planetarium, whatever.

Yes. I limit because it is a major society problem that young people are in too bad physical shape. They might get smarter and more intellectual when it comes to technical IQ when they are playing and working on PC, but what does that help if they dont stay fit.

Stop complaining and act = get them out of the house. Play ball, hikes, fresh air,(Outside to play) - whatever at least one hour per day before PC/TV. If grown-ups have to play along, that's just fine. Adults need excercise as well - and this way, you get som nice quality-time together in addition.

Good luck : )
