It was the Pacific so standard pilot gear would've been leather or canvas similar to world war one open cockpit head gear. Even so it could get pretty cold at certain altitudes.

You'd have to send a pic to confirm. I've only seen them in flight gear, no helmets. If anything, if so, if they took a hit before impact there was probably either an onboard detonator if close enough or keep them going to keep the ship going til impact.

What a trip, huh? Schmucks like the above are what keep them happening. Shouldn't kid about stuff like that.

What Pilots wore In those days can hardly be described as a helmet. It was more of a leather cap to protect them from the cold!!
