The hair on the skin that makes it look furry is called lanugo, which originally referred to the hair on a newborn's skin. The body only grows this when it is so starved that it can not keep itself warm [as fat usually does this job]. The hair helps insulate the skin because the fat that it needs cannot do its job.

Its called lanugo and its same hair thats on a foetus before birth. Its like a downy hair. Its bodys way of keeping warm when theres no fat store to keep you warm. Its a sign anoerexia is quite bad

because their bodies do not have enough fat because they havent eaten and they get cold without all that "insulin" i guess u would say. I have talked to a former anorexic and they say that they would sit in front of a space heater and have a blanket on them and still be cold. And if u all of a sudden loose a ton of weight u will also get this "furr"

Because when the body no longer has fat to insulate it and keep it warm, it must find another way to regulate it's tempurature. The hair is the body's last ditch effort to keep warm.

just like everyone else has said really...
people who suffer from anorexia have low body fat meaning that they are unable to keep themselfs warm and insulate themselves. They grow downy hair on their body as a subsitute to body fat to keep their bodies warm
