I would like to know if Corel paintshop pro is much easier to use for beginners than adobe elements 4. I currently use elements 3 but find it not very user friendly and am wondering what to purchase.

Both programs have free trials. If you have broadband cable or access to broadband cable, I would highly recommend downloading both trials and installing them, and using them for a couple weeks to decide which you prefer.

Having used both, I would say that Paintshp Pro X has a more user friendly interface and easier learning curve. However, I really would recommend trying them first, since that option is available.

Also, look into purchasing a book on whichever program you go with. For $10 US you can get an "In Easy Steps" series book, and for around $20 US you can get "Dummies" series book. Both are very usable.

Enjoy!

ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

Thats what all jobs use..,. don't waste time peeing around with the rest... With lots of specail effects pug ins like xenofex, kai powertools 3,4,5,6,7, etc

and Eye candy

Likewise learn Adobe in design, Quark, Illustrator...

Macromedia dreamweaver, flash, fireworks, hot metal and 3D studio max.

Corel is only really used in cheap print shops which guarantee no career.

Get a subscription to campaign, computer arts and design week magazine...

oh and you Should only EVER try for work in a magazine, design or advertising agency never a print shop... its like real jobs wont give you te time of day after

And you need to learn about litho printing, bleeds, screens, halftone tints.

What type of job you would have BW phtoocopies, colour copied, litho printed, Pantone separations and colours, thomo printed, hot foil printed or full colour printed with all the implications that would involve on how you wouid do the artwork. Numbers being key.

Plus how photos should be taken.

And do artwork fast.

Seriously dont waste tiem with non industry standard applications... And if wise find another career as non real jobs in graphics, very poor wages and jobs are very hard to get competing with experience

I have never used either programs but from experience, Adobe's programs tend to be better for more advanced users. Though I'm sure can still be figured out without too but difficulty.
