There are too many differences to list. Do you start with operations differences, which by the way are tied to different hardware. Or do you start with security issues, or resource requirements, or even software that will run on Vista or Windows 3.1.

The thing to remember about Microsoft, they make thier flagship OS more bloated every time it comes out with a new name. The new name is to make you forget how BAD the previous one was. And every time they tell you that you NEED this one, because it is the best thing for you, and in about 5 years, they will do the same thing all over again, and tell you the new one is better than THIS one as well.

And all of this is for them to put more money in THIER pockets. They dont care how secure/unsecure your computer is. IF they did, they would NEVER release a product ever again, and would never try to SELL you on thier latest crap.

The biggest difference is the fact of how much MORE that Vista will cost vs Windows 3.1x.

And a SIMILARITY with VISTA and all previous versions made since Windows 3.1, is that MANY a customer, at home and businesses are going to be duped into paying yet again for the biggest piece of junk to ever come out of Redmond Washington, and of course, SP1, and all kinds of security patches will be available for download on the internet once more.

Windows 3.1 is an antique, and Vista is still in development. I thought someone told me that there are no more bugs in 3.1. But 3.1 is so old and out of date, it does not matter if it's bug free or not. And from the reviews I've heard, Vista borrows a lot from Unix/Linux security and looks a lot like a Mac OS.

Windows Vista is a copy of Mac OS X
Windows 3.1.1 has less bugs than Vista but doesn't look as pretty.
