She came home early from work and caught him surfing through gay/male websites and gay mens porn. What would you do if you were in her shoes? At 12 he looks like a normal, typical, cute little boy. But he doesn't play with basketballs, or trucks and things little boys like. He likes to hang up under my aunt (which is his grandma) and everywhere she goes, he follows her. (he likes going to the mall and shopping with grandma!) He is a solid, bigboned boy, but when he talks, his voice is real light sounding and it surprises you becuase you would look at him and expect a deeper voice from such a big boy! Any suggestions?

Relax, he is probably just curious. He is twelve and his voice hasn't dropped yet. Don't jump to conclusions. Even if he is gay there is nothing you can do about it so relax and love him. Thats what you do love him.

Talk to him frankly about what was seen and DISCUSS the issue. Don't argue. A friend of ours just went through this and handled it totally the wrong way, causing the relationship to go downhill fast. Now, he is lying to his family so they will stay off his back cause they are being completely unreasonable and mean. Discuss the issue and be totally open to what is said. If the child is gay then that is another issue....and regardless, the child should be accepted for what they are. If they aren't the relationship could vanish and there will be great resentment on the child's behalf. Supportive parents are what this child needs....not judgment, denial, and grief. Twelve is a difficult age for any child, so it needs to be handled delicately. Counseling might be a good idea.

his voice will change eventually, heard of puberty? a squeeky voice does not make anyone gay. heard of george michael?
and hanging around with the grandma could mean he is a momma's boy. maybe the boy is just being curious.
i think the mother should go to counseling herself to find out how to deal with the situation either way and try to be as open minded as possible and make sure she has a close relationship wih her son.
growing up is hard enough fo kids.

It sounds to me as if you are more concerned with the aspect that this 12 year old boy was looking at gay porn rather than looking at the entire picture that he was looking at any porn in the first place.
Yes he may be a "big boy" and perhaps he doesn't play with trucks or balls. But honestly, does this matter? He is still a child and should not be looking at porn, gay or otherwise.

Did she ask him why he was looking at those sites? If he has questions or is feeling a certain way than she should sit him down and have a talk with him. He just might be curious or people could be teasing him because he acts girly.

He is only 12 years old! Kids are curious about sex. He was probably just looking to see what it was about rather than to get sexual satisfaction. She should have a talk with him and not make a big deal about it.

I WOULD LET HIM BE. HE MIGHT JUST BE CURIOUS OF WHAT OTHER MEN LOOK LIKE. LOTS OF MEN ARE EVEN MAMA BOYS THAT JUST MEANS THEY LIKE HANGING OUT W/ THEIR MOTHERS! AS FOR HIS VOICE ITS CALLED PUBERTY. THIS IS THAT WONDERFUL AGE OF HIGH PITCHED, SQUEAKY , CRACKING VOICES.
