FAQ: What books are in the Word and what are apocrypha?
"The books of the Word are all those which have the internal sense; but those books which have not the internal sense, are not the Word. The books of the Word, in the Old Testament, are the five Books of Moses, the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the two Books of Samuel, the two Books of Kings, the Psalms of David, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: and in the New Testament, the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; and the Apocalypse. The rest have not the internal sense" (Arcana Coelestia n. 10325 or Heavenly Doctrine n. 266).
FAQ: Why different testaments and books in the Word?
"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

I personally do not believe every word the minister says. As a matter of fact, I have gone toe- to - toe with ministers over mis- representing what the Bible says.
The Bible tells us people will only pay the preacher for what they want to hear.
2 Tim 4: 3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I think most people believe whatever they're told to believe from childhood onward. As children grow up they begin to adopt some beliefs from the printed word. By the time they're grown they usually start to form their own opinions and beliefs based on what they've already been taught.
But I decided to search and try to find the answers to my many questions and make up my own mind. So I read many books on many subjects and eventually came to my own conclusions.
That's why I was so surprised when I found the Spirit of Truth (or I should say Truth found me) and was "given" the Understanding of the Mysteries of God. The Truth turned out to be almost the exact opposite of what my own opinions had been. Wow, was I way off base!? And I finally had to admit that my own intellectual capability to discern the Truth was nowhere near sufficient for the job.

Christians discover their own belief, their minister doesn't know everything, they have to learn as a Christian, Christians have hurdles to deal with like anyone else, some believe what they are told, not everything said in church is true. when I went to church all the time, I didnt believe everything my ministers told me.

I form my belief based on my own personal experience with God. I have heard some ministers say things that were completely out of line with the word of God. That is why God said my people perish for lack of knowledge.If what I hear doesn't line up with God's word...I tune it out. Not all ministers who grace a pulpit are right with God. I am not judging, I am just saying what I have witnessed. This is why one is to know the Bible for him or herself . God bless you.

a minister is their to guide his flock in the ways of the bible to help them follow the ways of the bibles teachings .but as we grow up we have whats known as free will and that allows us to use our own minds to judge whether we believe what we are being told or to find out for ourselves .that's why children who have been taken to church since they were young sometimes stop going to church for a while to allow themselves a time to discover who they are and what they in their own mind believe

I can't speak for other Christians but I believe what my Pastors say for the most part but I do research the topics to double check them. But my pastors are total Bible preaching preachers.

Way to many of us have had to learn on our own, because to many of the ministers we were under did not have a clue about the bible or its word.

Christians are Anointed and God directs them, the preacher or the Messenger of the Congregation or Church is suppose to listen to what the Spirit is saying to the Congregation, but seldom do you see this in Church.
