I just got my thyroid tested because thyroid disease runs on both sides of my family.... I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise...... MY TSH level was .75 The nurse I spoke with says that this is in the normal range, should I still be concerned?

No that is a normal result - but could change in the future so if you have any symptoms (like your family members) then ask for a repeat test - otherwise may be worth checking every other year or so routinely.

If it is within the normal range, then this means that your thyroid is working fine, and you don't need to go on thyroxin. Although thyroid disorders, particularly hypothyroidism (my mum and my nan have it as well as me) run in families, it isn't always the case. Some escape it altogether, and some even get the opposite, i.e. hyperthyroidism. If your doctors say that everything is fine, then they're probably right. You probably will need regular blood checks given your family history to make sure that you don't have the condition, and also watch out for symptoms of hypothyroidism, such as tiredness, putting on weight, dull skin and thinning hair.

I agree that this is in the normal range.

You should be concerned that you are so focused on yourself and some sort of artificial numbering system...life is to be lived, get out and do something for someone else, read something meaningful, perfect a skill. In short, get off the computer and away from the television, and get moving. (this advice is applicable to myself as well as anyone else with enough ennui to be reading this).
