Isn't adultery a mortal sin and isn't remarriage adultery?

That would depend on the reason for the divorce. Adultry and abuse are valid, Biblical reasons for divorce. therefor re-marriage wouldn't be a sin.

Is Divorce A Mortal Sin

2017-01-16 17:12:32 · answer #2 · answered by virgen 4 · 0 0

NO
in Islam, remarriage after divorce is not a sin, & divorce is not a sin (Muhammed (PBUH) told us that divorcing is not a sin & also its not a good solution for both husband & wife, & the problem of divorcing get more complicated if they have kids)

BUT in Islam after divorcing, the female must stay 3 mounths & 10 days then after that period she is free to marry again ( & thats becouse if she was pragnant from the first man, she stays that period in order to be sure that she is not pragnant, becouse if she was pragnant then the coming baby may make some problems between the female, her ex-husband & her new husband), so she can marry the next man safely, so the female must stays that period before marriage

but the man ofcource is free to marry any time he want after divorcing, becouse man can't be pragnent ofcourse

i hope u got ur point from my explanation

I would agree. It depends on the terms of the divorce.

Romans 7:2-3 tells us that by law a woman is bound to her husband until one of them dies. Should the surviving partner remarry they do not commit adultery.

Luke 16:18 Says that any man who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and any man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. This is also explained in Mark 10:11-12

Matthew 5:32 tells us that anyone who divorces except for 'marital unfaithfulness' and remarries commits adultery.

1 Corinthians 7:10-11 says that a wife must not separate from her husband, but if she does must remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband, and that a husband must not divorce his wife.

1 Corinthians 7:13-15 tells us that if you are married to an unbeliever you should not leave them, but if they choose to leave you you're not bound to them (that makes the divorce the same as an annulment) but you should stay with them as long as they are willing, because you never know whether you will change their beliefs.

Biblically, remarriage after divorce is the same as "living in adultery". It's no different from any other kind of sexual promiscuity from a Biblical perspective, including the 'gay lifestyle' Christians love to bash as they're working on their third marriage.

It's only adultery if one of you is married to someone else.

The Bible only opposes frivolous divorces. It doesn't oppose divorcing a spouse that has been unfaithful. I doubt it opposes divorcing a murder, or a heretic, or a traitor.... you get the picture. The only divorces that are left after you rule out all of the divorces that are based on one of the members of the couple committing a particularly grievous sin would be the frivolous ones (like "I'd rather have sex with another woman.... LIKE THAT ONE... OR THAT ONE.... OOOOOH, SHE'S NICE!!!" or "I want to divorce him and marry someone richer!!" There would be a lot of people marrying woman after woman just so that they could legally sleep with whoever they wanted. Afterwards, those women would be considered "Damaged Goods" by everyone else out looking for a virgin wife.

I honestly believe that the Bible has Women, the Family, and the Community in mind when it comes to divorce.

There are no Mortal sins, Just Sins. No remarriage is not adultery. having more than one spouse is. and any one you have Sex with. to God is being united with. We are to have only one mate at a time. then If God Ordains your marriage it will last otherwise it likely will not. because what God Joins no Man can destroy.

But if you didn't marry in a Catholic ceremony, your marriage is not recognised by the Church.

Nowadays it's quite easy to get an annulment for all sorts of reasons, and particularly if you had a non-Catholic wedding, a la Nicole Kidman.

After an annulment you are free to wed.
