Here, in alphabetical order, is a sampling of alleged remedies and elixirs for hangovers. Some may soothe the suffering, a few could make things worse, and others -- well, your guess is as good as mine.
ABSTINENCE. 100% effective.
ACUPRESSURE. Place your right thumb firmly against the fleshy spot between your left thumb and forefinger. This is said to quiet the large intestine.
ALKA SELTZER. May help relieve the headache and settle the stomach. Time honored, but marginal results.
ANCHOVIES. Take three anchovies in a cup of ice cream before going to bed. The anchovy salt is meant to absorb the alcohol and the ice cream to coat the stomach. Stay close to the commode.
ASPIRIN. Calms the headache. But aspirin (ibuprofin, too) is a stomach irritant and may do your already distressed gastrointestinal system more harm than good. Coated aspirin will help here. Also, aspirin decreases stomach enzymes that help oxidize alcohol. So more alcohol gets into the circulation, increasing its impact. Tylenol is another option, but it stresses the liver, which is already working hard to process the alcohol.
CARBOHYDRATES. After drinking, eat bread, pasta, cereal, nuts, fruits, and vegetables to restore blood sugar sapped by the alcohol. One of the best options.
CHARCOAL TABLETS. For mopping up "congeners" (chemicals that trigger hangover symptoms). Burnt toast may also do the job.
CHICKEN SOUP. It’s said to cure anything. Even if it doesn’t help your hangover, it may provide motherly solace.
COFFEE. The caffeine will wake you up at the end of the evening. However, it won’t make you feel better or improve your coordination and judgement. You’ll just be a more awake drunk, which may not be good when what you need is sleep.
COWBOY CURE. Make a strong tea from jackrabbit droppings. Strain and drink every 30 minutes. For real men only.
CUCUMBER JUICE. Squeeze the juice from a few cucumbers, add a dash of salt, and down before drinking. Russian remedy.
DRINK BY RHYME. "Beer before liquor/Never been sicker./Liquor before beer/You’re in the clear." Poet laureate, McGrath’s Saloon, NYC.
EXERCISE. Take a gentle walk and a warm bath, followed by moderate to vigorous lovemaking. Increases alcohol metabolism, clears the mind, and elevates the mood. Repeat as needed.

The biggest cause of hangovers are due to intracellular water and electrolyte (sodium, potassium, etc) depletion. Note that it is INTRA (inside) the cells that need rehydrated, especially your brain cells, which actually shrink in volume as you continue to consume more and more alcohol. Intracellular rehydration takes time even if you drink mega amounts of liquids. When you drink, this dehydration process occurs over the entire time you are drinking, and therefore, requires hours the next day to slowly restore homeostasis (original normal state of body fluids both inside your body's cells and outside).
So seriously, apart from all the techno-physiology crap, drink power-aid (contains more potassium than Gatorade) and some good old-fashioned chicken broth. Also, take an anti-inflammatory drug like Motrin or Advil to help reduce swelling inside the skull and relieve pressure on the brain. You'll be ready piss the night away again before you know it.

DUH....Don't drink so much! Anyway, hangovers are caused by dehydration, yes you are drinking but alcohol actually dehydrates your body (thats why you never drink alcohol on a hot day and it will screw you up twice as bad if you do) and you are literally poisoning yourself, thats what causes you to feel drunk! Your body is telling you that you consumed more poison than it can deal with, what did you think would happen? The best way to prevent a hangover, aside from the obvious, is to drink water throughout the night, you should also eat and take some tylenol or something before you go to sleep. Now you are screwed and just have to deal with it until your body can rid itself of the poisons.

Gatorade (or other non-carbonated sports drink) always got rid of my hangover headaches. Usually drank it warm to be 'easier' on my stomach. I've also had friends swear by slurpee brain freezes.

hair of the dog is a good one (more beer). It really works, it does make you feel better, the only thing is that tomorrow you will have the same problem.
The only other thing i can suggest is to have a hot shower, a full english breakfast and go back to bed. If you have work, throw a sicky!

Drink a couple of beers, go back to sleep for a couple of hours, then throw up, and then eat something salty with orange juice, then throw up again, brush your teeth, take a mildly warm shower, then drink some more beer!

lots and lots of water. It would have been more effective if you drank lots of water right before bed and as soon as you woke up... but for now, take a nap, and drink lots of water and take like5 pain pills, advil or whatever.
Let this be a lesson to you.. if you're going to get hammered on a work-night, hydrate! Drinks lots of water

Have a small shot, then some Green tea and Excederin, then maybe a quick nap and a nice shower! If that doesn't work, then use the Force!

Drink lots of water and rest (try and sleep most of it off...). Take something for your headache. In a couple hours, eat something solid. You should be better for work in time... Water and food are key.
