Yes, it works pretty well for skin allergies. My vet recommends 1 mg/lb of dog, twice a day.

I've heard of giving children's Benadryl to dogs. If you need help actually giving the pills to your dog, wrap them in cheese, or shove it into a small cooked meatball. Feed a few pieces without the pill small enough for the dog to just eat and not bite into smaller pieces, then throw the 1 with the pill. The dog will never know the difference.

Yes! I give my dog Benadryl with my vet's approval. However, check with your vet to find out the correct dosage for your dog. My dog needs it when I put Advantix on him. It makes him itchy.

Yes, benadryl can be administered to dog. Go by weight to get the right dosage (best to just call your vet and ask to speak to a tech real quick about it). It can help them with skin allergies, rashes, hives, just like humans. It is one of the few human medications that can be safely given to dogs.

I had to give benadryl to my cat before because she went into anifalactic shock and her air way was closing up. But I only did this because the vet told me to and told me exactly how much to give my pet. Never give your animal any medication, especially human medication without consulting your vet first. Many vets will give you basic information over the phone.

There are some medications that you can give your pet- but you need to get the proper dosage amount. I have given my dogs pepto-bismal, children's tylenol & benadryl, etc. I, of course, only did that with permission from my vet!
