I just realized I have absolutely no idea what that doo-dad is in the hand of my avitar.......any ideas?

I can't see it, so I'm not sure. But if you want to know, just go to your e-mail, click on the face of your avatar, and then you see the main/big arrow there? Click on it and then press the arrows going down to see clearly what your avatar is really holding. But seeing the other people's answers, I'd say it was a cellphone.

cell phone, check the accessories part of avitar because your supposed to get a chance to choose accessories.
