1. Originally, it was to find and destroy the weapons of mass destruction Saddam Hussein had amassed.
2. But when no WMDs were found, the reason we were given is that we were liberating the Iraqi people from a tyrant.
3. Now that we've liberated the Iraqis from a tyrant, we're told that we're there to build a democracy.
4. We're still trying to build that democracy, but the country has deteriorated to a civil war which is what we were told at the outset would be the "worst-case scenario" and we would have to withdraw at that point.
5. What's next? Civil war? Troop withdrawal?

For all of you retards who think we are here in Iraq for oil wake up. If we were here for oil you jack asses we wouldn't be paying $3 a gallon. Get a clue. The dictator of Iraq was a known supportor of terrorisim and had weapons of mass destruction that he had and DID use on his own people. Just because huge stockpiles weren't found does not mean there are none.

With respect isn't that a bit of an irrelevant question now being as the invasion of Iraq happened three years ago.

Constantly going on about the reasons for it is not going to help improve the current situation is it?

Isnt it boring as well how so many people go on about oil when the USA does not get any oil from Iraq (or just about anywhere else in the middle east)..

Simply because President Bush LIED and said that there were weapons of mass destruction being manufactured in Iraq, so we had to invade before they were either put to use or sold to other foriegn powers. But Like you've already said....we STILL havent found not even one. Damn Bush administration!! What do you expect from a President who stole the election, not once...but TWICE!

the U.S. invaded Iraq due to the assumption, if you will, of Iraq having weapons of Mass Destruction. I honestly think alot of it had to do with Iraq being part of Bush's "Axis of Evil", but then I'm not the Secretary of Defense, or anything like that, so I may be way off target here.

for the free oil he will get, and imagine the money going into the countries pockets, however the president started this war in saying that Iraq had destructive weapons, because he doesnt want to get on TV and declare the war with "hey guys of US, America needs and wants Oil, so we are heading to Iraq"

Funny how many Fox News viewers still think that some WMD were found! lol Morons! Every reason they gave was proven wrong...the most recent one...to promote freedom...is a joke. We've killed at least 4 times as many Iraqis in 3 years as SH did in 35 years...destroyed and failed to rebuild their infrastructure, and created an Islamic Republic based on Sharia Law. Not exactly freedom! Before we went in, women didn't have to wear veils, now they do. Before, women could have jobs, now they can't. Not saying that SH was good...but we put him in position in order to get rid of the new democracy in Iraq, supported him and sold him the wmd he used against the Kurds, then destroy the country getting rid of him!

Ignorance is deadly, and there has been a massive outbreak of it in this country. In order to vote Republican, one must either be evil (love the idea of killing and destroying and will find any excuse to support it), knowingly ignorant (there is none more blind than he who will not see), or retarded level moronic. That's all there is to it. Every republican voter falls into one or more of these categories.

oil .have you noticed that all the countries the USA wants to attack has large quantities of oil. Kuwit is our ally, we have no beef with saudi arabia, afganistan is falling under us( a large oil supply has been recently discovered there), iran is next on the list, if you look at a map all these countries fall in a striaght line. they all have oil. doesnt it look like and easy way to make a global pipe line for oil and gas. and it will all be under the european union, which the USA will be part of.
