A lot of people think that about Catholics, because they do not understand completely what we believe. Catholicism is very traditional, however, it teaches forgiveness, so I would not consider it "strict." As with many religions, those who do not practice it often misinterpret its teachings. Please take time to learn more about Catholicism, as well as other religions, in order to more fully understand. Doing this, in fact, is how I came to love being a Catholic.

Have you ever experienced an irate nun when you make a mistake at bingo?

As a child, all spring, summer and fall the catholic churches would hold a festival each week at a different church. Cakes, goldfish toss, beer, big card poker, bingo and big 6 wheel surrounded by ankle deep loosing raffle tickets.

I did not find the Catholics very strict at all. You had to confess your sins to a priest, perform penance, and attend mass on Sundays and holy days. No birth control, no divorce, and lots of fond memories of cute girls in miniskirt uniforms.

I kinda wish i never did the research on their history and came to the conclusion that the were charlatans, good natured and benevolent, but charlatans all the same.

because catholicism is a political based religion, that meaning is formed primarily to be influential in the government as opposed to being an actual faith based religion. notice in catholicism the chain of command from pope and down, the crusades (being governmental expansion) or the influence catholics held over roman empire? its strict because they think they need to tell the world how to live when over half of the people in it are more corrupt then the rest of the world. if it wasnt that way then the churches wouldnt be so rich, the pope wouldnt own more valuables then most any one else. and furthermore the pope takes away from the religion itself, being a deviation of the Christian religion, i dont recall anywhere in the Bible where it says you should worship a pope. infact even churches are portrayed as a secondary evil, the church is what crucified christ, jesus when into the churches preaching against them. why do you think they crucified him? the churches of that time were there for money and power. The Bible talks about fellowship with christians, not necessarily a church. Churches are only as holy as the people in them.

if u think catholics are strict its because of the wrong reasons, look at how strict orthodox people are, u no its the second largest christian religion next to catholics and the best kept secret one? its cuz we don't feel we need to advertise our religion like the other ones that just want power and money

Strict in what sense? When you come right down to it, Christianity as a whole is a very strict religion because to truly follow Jesus, one must act in ways that today's western society does not value. Think about what it really means to truly love one's neighbor.

Strict is not necessarily bad -- it just means you actually believe something. I am not a Roman Catholic, but I admire that they have the guts to stick to what they believe -- even if it is something uncomfortable or unpopular like standing against homosexuality or birth control.

Because they are religious...rules and regulations, ceremonies and traditions...

Try a relationship with Jesus in stead of religion! God loves you and is seeking you out for a relationship.

Religion is man's way of reaching God.

Relationship is God's way of reaching man, through Jesus Christ!

Grace to you and God Bless

Yeah what he said....in what way. I mean we can drink, we can smoke, we can gamble, what else do you want?

By most Christian's standards because of those three things alone we are considered complete pagans!!!

I'm going to completely ignore the uninformed person up there who obviously does not know what we believe.
