I'm always drinking coffee or some other beverage while grocery shopping, but it's hard to pick up large items to put in the buggy while holding a drink. It's hard to try free samples too.

The carts in our supermarket have cup holders. It does come in handy, you're right. Suggest it to the managers, maybe when purchasing new carts it is something they would consider. You never know!

The ones in New England at Stop & Shop markets do. Most units have a Dunkin Donuts in them so they installed cup holders to promote people to buy a cup of coffee, etc. inside the store.

Both the Albertson's and the Safeway in my town do. And the organic market has a coffee bar in the same building! Come to Alameda, CA
for raised consciousness shopping!

It's a pretty good idea. Altho some stores doesn't allow outside drinks. On the same note, some stores also have a soda fountain, so they should have a place to place ya drinks.... Hmmm. is this an idea to get patented?

Well, if you must know, they do actually exist. My supermarket, just got new carts and they all hae cup holders. It is a great invention. Maybe its time for your market to update.

funny you ask ..

i was in cape cod and there was a dunkin donuts inside the grocery store. on some shopping carts, there were these dunkin donuts things that held your cup!! i was like, BRILLIANT! but otherwise, i totally agree with you.

Because everybody & their brother would be snappin' the tops off soda cans and then telling the checker that they brought it from home...freebies..
Also it's a liability issue!
