We took our dd to Chucky Cheese last Sat for the first time. It was okay. We definitely decided that Chucky Cheese was NOT the place for her 3rd bday. That place is wild. It'll have to be for a year when we trust her to run off & play by herself....I don't want to have to follow her around and watch/help her ride things.
Any ideas...it'll be in Jan (yeah, it's REALLY early), but I'm sick of the home parties...Hmmm...please, help.
TIA - thx in advance

I did my sons at Mcdonalds they had age appropraitge games, roped off the area, served the food and cleaned up. My friends did hers at Jefferys(toys r us) Pretty much the same but ALOT MORE EXpensive

Yes, home parties require so much work, too. I agree that 3 is too young for Chuck E. Cheese.
You mention the birthday is in January, but not where you live, so I'm not sure what kind of climate you will be in.
When my twin girls were three, we had their party at either a Burger King or a McDonald's with an indoor playplace. It may seem a bit lame to an older kid, but it was ideal. So, it isn't original or creative...hey, it is perfect for that age, who cares. It isn't very expensive and there is no clean up or planning to worry about. And it is easy to book.
Good luck, whatever you choose!

You could do one of two things that we did for our daughter. 1.Pick a park that has age appropriate equipment, a pavilion with benches, and a bathroom. Get a permit from your city's Dept of Recreation (for the pavilion). Rent a space walk. And bring the food there for the party. Or 2. Have it at Gymboree (not the clothing store). You'll get a 2 hr block of time to use place just for your party. If you have no Gymboree in your area, just pick a place that has organized and/or themed children activities,

I have 5 children and we do family style parties now. When the kids get a certain age, we either have a sleepover and have fun activities planned or they invite a friend or two to go with them someplace of their choosing. (like a movie/mall, skating..whatever) When they are younger it seemed like a waste of time and a lot of unnecessary stress. All the money you spend on decorations, party favors and food could go towards gifts. and kids love more presents!

I would say McDonald's. Not all McDonald's are equal however....so you will probably have to call around to a few different ones in your area. The one I had my son's party at was in Epsom NH and they have a small play area(indoors) with tunnels and slides, but its really easy to keep an eye on them. and the lady who runs it does an amazing job with games, etc. They do a really nice job, but like I said you'll probably have to call or visit a few to find the right one...the other MCDonalds in my area don't even have indoor play-places....the Epsom one is the only one. so good luck to you!!

If its only a few kids try build-a-bear...my kids love it, but it can get expensive so best to have a small party if you do that. Also, does you have a rainforest cafe near you, all my kids love it there. And what about the local YMCA, ours lets you rent out the kiddie pool, order pizza, have a cake, and rent the mat room.
Good Luck!
