I cant believe what i am seeing! I am a parent, and have 2 great kids. they are smart and beautiful. I feel bad for the parents of some of these kids. I agree that bad parents produce bad kids, but these children speak loudly about our society. What is wrong with respect. I am so glad My parents raised me right, and i have passed this along to my kids.

My soon-to-be fiance is a elementary school teacher... and what I'm about to say can be substantiated by nearly every badly-behaved child in her classroom.
Let me just say, right here and right now, that there are a lot of bad parents in the world. I know, I know... parenting is hard. But seriously, a lot of parents get lazy in the way they raise their children and it comes back to bite them in the @$$ later.
If your kids treat you like "the ground they walk on" it is most often because the parent has allowed them to do that at one point. Kids are smart, they learn how to get what they want, and they learn it quickly. If you can bug mommy until you get what you want, why, with the mentality of a child, wouldn't they do that?
My parents laid down the law. They didn't yell or beat me... but they did make me understand that if I didn't obey them... that was a choice, and just like everything else in the world, when you make a choice, that choice is followed by repercussions and consequences. I could choose to obey them or not to, and if I did, I was happy. If I didn't... I wasn't.
The child can be blamed to a certain extent... but most commonly, bad children are a result of poor parenting. Lay down the law... and STICK TO IT. If you waver... your kids will not respect you. It's tough.... but you'll raise better kids.

I was a brat when I was a kid, sometime back in the Jurassic age known as the 80's. I know the 80's were prehistoric times because my 9-year old saw fit to inform me of that fact.
Karma is a *****, y'all. Whatever you do will come back around, so to all you puppies who said you behave and do what you're told, you shall reap what you sow.The rest of yas are screwed!
Oh, and to the other parents who replied, remember what Mark Twain said about how his father got smarter when Mark turned 20 or so. *sigh*

I'm a teenager.. And.. I guess I obey half the time..
Teenagers are rebels and everything there parents say, they do the opposite. They test their boundaries often.
I, personally don't like being controlled. I feel I am being smothered by my parents sometimes. I've talked to them but they don't understand. They just tell me that they love me and that's why they are so concerned. I feel like I have no breathing room. They treat me as if I can't defend myself. Even if they say, I know you can defend yourself they still don't back off.
I have done some bad things and got punished for it, and my parents still don't trust me.

I'm seventeen. No, I'm not a brat.
I tend not to obey my parents, though. I don't listen to my dad because he's an abusive alcoholic jerk who I refuse to be around, and I don't listen to my mom because I am a typical rebellious teenager.
Here's a hint for all of the parents out there: if we haven't given you a reason not to, trust your teenagers. I only disobey my mom when she sets specific rules because it makes me feel as though she doesn't trust me and thinks I'm not capable of taking care of myself. The one time she told me to be home by 2 am was the only time I've ever come home later than that. Every other night, when she doesn't set specific rules, I tell her where I'll be, who I'm going with, and when I'll be back, and I always leave my phone on and keep it with me so she can always contact me. If you want your kids to listen to you, trust us. Offer a little more freedom, and if your kid can't handle it, that's when you need to rein them in- not before we've been given a chance to prove ourselves.
