def could be nerve damage. My mom was in a car accident a few years ago and she has lots of neck problems. Her hands and arms go numb because she has a pinched nerve and a slipped disk. You may want to have that checked out.

Definetly see a doctor. I have arthiritis in my neck and spinal stenosis. Both are painful and stenosis can mimic apinched nerve giving you numbness and tingleing from your neck to your arm and hand. The arthiritis has become pretty bad causing herniated or bulging disc in my neck. Proper identification of your symptons is important so you know what can be done to help you and what not to do to cause more injury to yourself. Good luck and remember many people suffer from the from neck pain, you are not alone.

Do you have a new pillow? You could be sleeping in an awkward position because your neck is bothering you, and that's making it worse... Maybe you're sleeping on your hand, I was having pains likd carpal tunnel but it was just the position of my hand under my chin - my husband figured it out! Definitely see a doctor and rule out anything serious, maybe get something that will relax those muscles.

STOP CRACKING YOUR NECK. All your doing is stretching your muscles and breaking them till they rejoint themselves. And try a new sleeping position. Because you always have this pain whenever you wake up and not when you go to sleep maybe its the way your sleeping.

cracking neck is not a good habit... more than 4 times a day might harm the spine...
look for your position in bed... if improper change it... use soft pillow...
if problem remains unsolved, better consult your orthopaedic physician... you might have cervical spondylosis...
nothing to worry about... just consult and follow the instructions... you will be fine....
