When I turned 40, I had to back off of my beloved coffee. I have since learned to enjoy substituting decaf drinks. I also have to stay away from dinners with a lot of tomatoes in the foods cause it will give me heebyjeebies and wake me up with heart burn.
I figure if this is all that I have probs with at 52..I am damned lucky!..I have tried these natural ways to feel good and not rely on meds.

I suffered from acid reflux for aobut 20 years.
I started out eating 100 rolaids a week. Then it got worse and I went on Prilosec. And then Pepsid AC cause my insurance company wouldn't pay for the Prilosec. Finally the pain went from my chest to my back. Finally I got some decent insurance and had my hiatal hernia fixed. This cured the problem.
But I had let it go for so many years that there was lots of scar tissue and the surgery took 3 hours instead of 45 minutes....
but here I am 10 years after and I can eat anything I want without acid reflux.

I have acid reflux. I take a prescription called Ranitidine, and it works really well. Things that trigger me most are red wines, tomato sauces, orange juice... anything slight on the acidic side. If I eat less and keep active and rested it also seems to be better.

acid reflux, and yes...i have a severe case of it, which is dumb because i am only 14 and i thought only older people get it. when i eat too much spicy and greasy food, i get really sick. i took this medicine though, its called prevacid (for a month), the acidity problem just stopped, and now I can eat normally.

Greasy of spicy foods. Also don't go to bed for 2-3 hours after eating. I take Nexium and it works well. Losing weight also helps.
