Well, for the same reason you wouldn't want to give a CRAZY person a loaded gun! He'd probably USE IT on YOU.

Anyone ever hear of 'imminent domain'? If you lived on a tiny plot of land and developers built sky scrapers all around you, then started threatening you and trying to take your tiny plot of land away, what do you suppose you'd do? You'd FIGHT for your rights, wouldn't you? Israel is a TINY country in the midst of BIG countries and even worse, those big countries generally hate Israel and would LOVE to see her wiped off the map. And people wonder WHY Israel is so quick to defend herself? Get a CLUE!

As for the statement by 'mindcrazy11'……. I wonder…..do you live in the US? If so, I invite you to go live in IRAN and you won't have to tolerate living in a democracy any longer.

It is an unfortunate, and somewhat unfair, status quo that must be maintained, despite its deficiencies. It is important for the US and Russia to commit to reducing their stockpile of nukes as well, so they do not look hypocritical, but it is important to halt both vertical and horizontal proliferation, as any change in this system could set off a chain reaction that would lead to nuclear war.

What happens if Shiite Iran gets nuclear weapons? Then Israel will have to greatly increase their stockpile, as will India. Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt would also likely feel compelled to obtain nukes for their protection. Before we know it, Eastern European countries will be committed to weapons programs, as will wealthier African and Pacific Island countries.

When so many countries have nukes, it's only a matter of time before someone uses them and we end up with a massive war. It is certainly a difficult situation for the US and the world, and the apparent hypocrisy is not lost on Americans. But it is the best solution in an area of warfare where there are no good solutions.

If Iran has the nuke and the USA someday wants to invade Iran, then Iran may use it on its forces...but the biggest reason is that Iran says it wants to wipe Israel off the map, and a couple nukes could do just that. Iran's president is as crazy as Bush, so maybe if we could get them BOTH out, maybe then the reasonable people could sit down and work out the differences, you know, like civilized people are supposed to do.

What kind of stupid are you, Zagham? Would you trust Iran with a nuclear weapon?

The use of the atomic bombs to end WW2 was of different circumstances. Interestingly, Eisenhower was against using it but Truman needed to make a point to the Russians in addition to ending the war.

Don't you know that the US ihas the most hypocritical government known to mankind. It's perfectly acceptable for the US to have them but as soon as a country like Iran or North/South Korea wants to get them as well then it a war against terror all of a sudden. Why shouldn't they be scared of the US since the US is the only country dumb enough to actually use it. Yeah way to go.

Since America wants to lead by example so badly go ahead and do it...get rid of your nukes. But no we have 'em and our little sidekick Israel can have 'em b/c we say so end of discussion.

hmmm.. why don't we want Iran to have nukes... lets see with simple math...

3rd world country with a fanitical religious nutcase at the helm + Nukes = bad forking idea.

Glad I could sum this up for you.

By the way since when has Iran had to protect itself from the US? I distinctly remember several huge earethquakes that the US sent money and such as aid to help them... sounds like they need nukes to protect themselves form that eh? As far as Isreal goes... They wouldn't be attacking anyone if they were left alone.

The question is: Why is it that U.S is allowed to have hundreds of nuclear bombs, but Iran cant have any?....U.S needs to stop being a police to the world. IRan will use the bomb if they are being attacked.

For one thing, the US is the only one to have ever use them in a war, and they know what kinds of effects they have. The Nuclear weapons of today are much more powerful than those used in Japan, and they don't want countries with a screw loose like Iran to have them.

you're going to have yet another warfare, which we received't have sufficient money, in case you opt for Rmoney. From the sound of it we ought to have a warfare with Russia and Iran if the Republicans have their way. Pre-emptive attacks labored so properly for us in the course of the previous administration. We effectively bumped off Saddam from ability and destabalized the total area. If Saddam Hussein were nevertheless in ability in Iraq then Iran ought to effectively been checked. Now you've 2 countires there who're participating.

Because Iran has already said that it would use the bomb as an offensive weapon to destroy another country. Something that the U.S. has never done.
