I am 28, eat well, don't smoke, and I am 5'5" and 140lbs; however my cholesteral is 240! I have to say my only fault is that I hate to exercise and I can't seem to keep a regimen. My doctor wants to put me on cholesteral medicine, but I feel like this is the easy way out. I mean if I don't exercise and take the medicine...will this really help me in the long run? Must you combine exercise with the medicine for it to work effectively?

First you'd need to define--eat well. But yes, you need to exercise. The easiest way is to walk briskly for 1 hour 5 days a week. Also please try taking FLAX SEED OIL, 3000 MG every day. If you eat a lot of meat, cheese, milk products, ice cream, there is where your cholesterol is coming from. If not, the walking and Flax seed oil should take care of the problem without the prescription med. Try my way first and see what happens. Because those drugs are very strong and have serious side effects.

Be healthy.

Natural Cholesterol Guide?

The medicine will lower your bad cholesterol, while exercise will raise your good cholesterol.
If you feel bad about taking medicine, you can go natural & take either red rice yeast or flaxseed oil. Both of these will naturally lower cholesterol.
You do not HAVE to exercise, but you only stand to gain if you DO exercise.

My doctor has said that I need to do both - exercise and take the medication (in addition to eating foods low in cholesterol).

I haven't exercised at all, added fish to my diet, took the medication and lowered my cholesterol from 230 to 190.

I'm in a similar situation, but my doctor gave me 6 months to try to get my cholesterol down (its now 243) through diet and exercise or else he will put me on a statin (cholesterol med.)

I thought I ate well, but I'm making some changes. I also joined a gym and I'm now aiming to get my weight and body fat percentage to ideal rather than just within guidelines. Unfortunately since it runs in my family we just have to be even more aggressive with diet and exercise than most.

Good luck to us both!

It helps, but not all the way.

I've had an exercise regimen for two years and I can't get my good cholesterol over 40.
