Smoking Kills and Religion Kills. Sensible parents don’t encourage their children to smoke. Sensible parents don’t encourage their children to learn religion. There are many different brands of cigarettes and there are many different cults of religion.

Smoking is legal and religion is legal but they both destroy lives. I think religion is worse overall, but I’d appreciate other opinions please.

Organized Religion is by far worse and more deadly. Look at all the murders, tortures and wars that were done in the name of a religion. Look at the crap happening in Iraq (Muslims fighting each other because they have slightly different beliefs) Israel, lebanon and everywhere else.

Hmm... Your argument is flawed because you neglect one important detail. Religion is belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. Mans interpretation can in fact be deadly but religion itself is not deadly. We are witnessing this now in Afghanistan and the middle east. Suicide bombings are a result of people's interpretation of their religion. Smoking however is deadly. Studies show the adverse affects cigarette and other forms of smoking have on the human body. No matter how you interpret the literature written on these studies you cannot control the effects. This is where the two are separated.

Don't mix the idea of a cult with religion. A Cult is a fanatic leading people easily swayed by fast talk of everlasting friendship and life. The Jim Jones and David Koresh folk of the world. It's usually one person dominating the lives of the followers in what's professed as religion.

Well smoking affects your physical health, and can cause cancer and emphysema.

Religion affects your spiritual health and where you go after you die. It's better to believe in something than in nothing. But it has caused many people to kill or destroy things in the name of religion.

So it's a toss up. Smoke if you want to get to heaven sooner. Use religion to condemn smokers.

Wanting to get to know the Lord is a Beautiful thing. Its man that destorys your faith in the Lord. Religion is man made so are cigaretts. I'd rather have the Love of God than Lung cancer anyday of the week.

I agree that religion is worse, not only because it kills more people, but also because with religion, you're always going to have wars and it harms EVERYONE, not just the religion-addict.

If I smoke, it's my problem and I'm harming myself. Second hand smoke doesn't cause much harm, that's just a myth.

Now we need to start a 12 step program. Check out my source. They also have an episode about second hand smoke if you believe that myth.

I suggest you quit your smoking, quit your religion and receive Jesus as your Savior. Jesus never did any harm to anybody but instead went about doing good and healing those who were oppressed of the devil. God bless you and thank you for a chance to be blessed!!!

Actually you said "your" health, I saw on the news the other day that most people over the age of 100 credited faith as the reason they have lived so long so there you go.

Religion, no question! People who smoke are addicted to the nicotine but have the power to give up if they really want to. Most people who follow a religion are hypnotised by the beliefs of that religion and cannot give up.
