That depends on what YEAR they have.
I know several people who were completely and totally unhappy with their 2000 sentras... I think it must have been a bad year for them.

My sister drives a 2005. She absolutely LOVES her car. She bought it used with about 6K miles on it a few months ago (the people who traded it upgraded to a Quest) and she has been driving all over the east coast and LOVING it.

I think it is a really nice small car.
The new Versas are really awesome, too.

Nissans are generally good cars, I've owned two Sentras and two Altimas. The first Sentra ran for years and years, never gave me any serious trouble - it was very ugly though ; ) My first Altima was also wonderful and very hassle free. My 2000 Altima needed pads replaced three times in 3 years, which I felt was excessive. My recent car, the 2003 Sentra, has had a few problems going into it's third year and I just heard about a second safety recall, this a one sounds very dangerous, apparently the car could stall out randomly and cause you to get into an accident. Additionally, I've already had a blown head gasket even though my car has never overheated and is only 3 years old, so I would stay away from the 2003 models. Oh, I hear this problem is on the Altima as well as the Sentras. So 2003 is not a great year for Nissan. I'll put the recall info link in case that helps at all.

I have a 2005. It's my second Sentra. Great gas mileage. Not-so-great pick up, especially when the AC is running. But a good car for the money.

It's a decent car that gets decent mileage--at least 350 miles to a tank of gas. It doesn't have a whole lot of power once the rpms start to get high, but the car will highway-cruise at 80 mph easily even with two people in it. The stock sound system also leaves a bit to be desired, but if you're looking for cheap, reliable transportation to and from work, you can't beat it.

The Sentra is a very reiable car that is a good value overall. I don't think the quality is as good as Honda and Toyota though.

Our daughter has an 06. Good mileage. She likes it on the highway ( she's at college about 250 miles from home ). Has alot of features for the $. She lloked at the Civic but this seemed roomier.

When I test drove one, I was really disapointed with the power of the vehicle. I got on the highway going about 60mph and the car felt like it going as fast as it could go, sounded like it too.

dont like em....i would really stick with hondas in that price range...they are really reliable and have a lot of bacic stuff...but at least it dosent break down...the more complicate a car becomes, the less reliable it becomes, like Mercedes
