Is a piece of toast (wheat bread) with butter and a bit of jelly, along with some fresh fruit, an ok breakfast for a toddler? Not every single day, but a few days a week?

Yes that's absolutely fine! You are doing a wonderful job...many parents think a pop-tart is breakfast!!!! Good for you!!

Yes, it is. The toast is good enough with a fresh fruit and something to drink.Toddlers do not require so much food early in the morning like that. you give him that, then some crackers for snack, then lunch, a nap, another little snack and then, later, dinner. This should fuel the child throughout the whole day without stuffing him. You'd be surprised what some parents send their toddlers off with for lunch! A little bread roll with some cheese and meat and some juice, a fruit and a snack. Fifth graders have that for lunch, not toddlers! So, what you would be serving him for breakfast a few days a week is totally fine.

Sounds like a good breakfast, it's a warm breakfast with the vitamins a baby needs. Add a glass of whole milk to the menu too and it would be perfect. Watch how a baby reacts to fruit though sometimes it can cause diarrhea and you wouldn't want to do that.

In this breakfast, you have 2 of the food groups: grains and fruit. That's good, but try to ensure that your toddler gets servings of protein, dairy, and vegetables the rest of the day (along with more fruit and grains).

Will your toddler drink milk with his/her toast? That would be a good way to get in one more food group...

Yes, that sounds fine. One suggestion if our child is not allergic to peanut butter, substitute that for the butter and jelly. peanut butter is a great source of protein. Also have them drink a glass of milk with their breakfast.

my kids eat that or a bagel but my babies do get fresh fruit everyday, we call them fruit bats =) they always eat first.

I usually make them a hot breakfast, fun shaped pancakes with fruit. french toast, biscuits or oatmeal.

Youre doing fine =)

It's great unless he gets constipated then cut back on toast, dairy, rice, and banana. Or so that's what I've read.
