I was a member of the division those soldiers belonged to, and I am ashamed and sickened that any human being would do this. Too many people have been thinking too politically about this incident, with Dems claiming that it was caused by "battle fatigue" and Reps refusing to admit it was wrong. What about the girl's family??? The soldier were supposed to be protecting people like them, and it is very disgusting what they did......

What's really sad is that it's not just the one 12yr girl, nor the 14yr girl, or the 6yr boy in Abu Ghraib that was sodomized to try to get info out of his mom who had to watch. This has been happening a lot. These things happen when violence and hatred of a people are endorsed by a government. These right-wing pundits, administration and congressional proponents have been pushing this idea of Arabic people being inherantly evil for so long, people (especially those caught up in the middle of it, like our military) start seeing them as sub-human, and these atrocities happen.

Its really terrible crimes committed against the Iraqi people ,the problem is that its only a few of these crimes that come to light.Saddam is being tried for the atrocities committed by his soldiers, but i don`t see or hear a calling from anyone calling for the trial of these leaders who have destroyed and raped the people of Iraq.

What's up is that the men, and I'm calling them men for lack of better word to describe their gender, well I can call them f-ing ***holes that deserve to slowly rot away in a ditch covered with barbwire after we cut off their balls since they won't be needing them anymore...uh where was I? Ok they deserve to suffer for the rest of their lives. I hope they don't get the death penalty but serve life in prison. A bullet to the head is easy but justice is having them suffer like their victims did.

And I know all about turning the other cheek but I like to say an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. To set a standard you need to make tough decisions...let's see if they, the courts, military police, JAG are up for it.

By the way great question! We need more awarenes on matters like these so the victims' families know that the matter is not forgotten.

If this was a civilian incident here in America, those men who were directly involved with the physical rape would be on death row. That's how I feel should happen to them.

Irregardless of what religion the victims were or political standing, you have to admit it was a really, really bad crime.

I think she was fourteen rather then twelve, and her whole family killed?! Good gosh, Almighty!!

Any man who commits rape is the lowest form of human life and needs locking up for ever if found guilty.

The fact that they were soldiers is irrelevant. Accountants, sportsmen, movie stars, homeless people and even Democrats have raped people but that doesnt reflect on all other people who do the same job.

She was 14 and they are ivestigating it last I heard. I don't think they are going to let this go, its a very very serious crime and I believe the Army (I dont remember if it was the Army or Marines) will prosecute these men.

Trial is pending. If convicted, life sentences would be a certainty, with the death penalty a possibility.

They're still innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

they r going to be court martialled. they are still in iraq right now doing detail work instead of regular duties then they will go back to ky when the rest of their unit comes back, and be jailed. then the trial or court martial will begin. after that, depends on verdict. oh and barker-not religous at all. no they r not saying not enough evidence anymore.
