During the prohibition, the Church hired people to re-write the Bible, taking out any reference it made to alcohol.

Most Jewish scholars do believe that Jesus healed using Cannabis oil. Christ means anointed, and Jesus was anointed with Cannabis oil, which was washed away after he was baptized.

We know for a fact that everyone during those times using herbs to heal. What kind of herbs? Some of them were psychoactive. Datura, Belladonna, Cannabis, Salvia Divinorum, and whatever else happened to be around.

Why does Christianity promote using a dangerous drug like alcohol but doesn't allow a harmless plant like Marijuana? At least Islam is consistent in saying you shouldn't use ANY drug.

Genesis 1:29? [“Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed;”.]

Alcohol lowers your IQ, just what the Church needs to survive.

Edit:
I want to make something clear. The prohibition ended before the references to alcohol were removed from the Bible.

The Bible talking you to take an illegal drug would have been horrible for the Church, so it makes sense to try to separate alcohol from the Bible, otherwise it (the Bible) would lose credibility. What if it had references to heroin?

and Muslims aren't allowed to smoke cigarettes. Tobacco is considered a sin, and is no different than alcohol or heroin. A lot of them break that law, but as with every religion, people just follow the laws that make sense to them.

Marijuana - Is not a harmless plant!!! It has the same effect as alcohol on your mind.

Science happened - They have found out the properties of the herbs in question, some can cause great harm and death and did to that. Therefore the christian movement has been influenced by science.

OK, the Cannabis oil thing is really weird; I've never heard of that...
Christians Shouldn't be advocating alcohol...In fact, the word wine in the Bible often can mean anything coming off the grapevine.
The most definitive passage on wine that I can find is in Proverbs 23 :
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has babbling? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not on the wine when it is red, when it gives its color in the cup. At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.
I don't think the Bible is telling us that alcohol is a good thing.

If you're referring to the Catholic Church, then that's just not true.

The Catholic Church has never rewritten the Bible, with regard to references to alcohol or anything else.

The vast majority of the world's Catholics during the 1920s lived outside of the USA. (This is true today as well.)

So, there's no big reason for the Catholic Church to make changes to the Bible because of Prohibition -- because for most of the world's Catholics, Prohibition did not apply.

Nice try lol but prohibition wasn't that long ago, and people WERE reading their Bibles. Do you really think someone came around, stole everyones Bibles and the Bibles in the churches, destroyed them all, and then gave all Bible readers something... a drug perhaps, to make them forget those things were in their Bibles and hand them out all new ones?

How much IQ does one need to realize you are very gullible?

The Christian Denominational Churches are attempting to appease as many people, and stay in line with typical country laws, because it helps to recruit people and gives credit to any arguements that a country is Christian. Once marijuana becomes legal in a majority of countries, I'm sure they'll switch it again and say "Oh, look. It's been there all along."

So you think the grape juice used for communion is real wine or what? How do we promote alcoholics? I read the bible, and I saw plenty of alcohol described, so "the church" must have missed changing my bible. I saw the story of Lot getting drunk and being taken advantage of by his daughters, which is one very strong lesson against drunkeness, so I don't get your drift. Actually, many christain denominations are completely anti-alcphol, such as fundamental baptists.

Wine isnt wine in the catholic church. It is the blood of christ. Theres this thing called transubstantiation. its when the wine is no longer wine, rather it is the blood of christ. You dont drink a glass of the blood of christ. You take a teeny tiny sip. Also, not all church offer the blood at every mass. Some will only offer it on Holy days.

No drugs are used in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints...

We are told to avoid all drugs unless prescribed by a doctor for health reasons.

The Bible says that the ground brought forth thorns and thistles (psycho... drugs ). It doesn't say that Jesus was anointed with oil or that He healed other than speaking the word or the laying on of hands (or making mud).

During prohibition, communion wine was exempt.

The Bible does not promote alcohol, similarly, it does NOT prohibit cannabis. Those are man's laws, not Gods.
