IMHO vanilla is the true test of the quality of a particular brand of ice cream.
One of the best: Blue Bell vanilla with mint Oreos crushed on top (yumm!)
As for high end ice creams, it's hard to beat Haggen Das Coffee.

It's Vanilla ice cream with chunks of Coconut and Pineapple made by haggin d.

Butter-scotch is my favourite. Fruit flavor are better, if it contains natural juices and made fresh at home. Pineapple, Mango, strawberry are my favourite fruit flavours.
Chocolate is unhealthy,Vanilla is too common and cheapest.
