My daugher is starting Jr. High and I'm sick of braiding her hair. She's a tom boy, but needs a hair do. I was thinking of getting it relaxed, and cut so that it's still to her shoulders, but short enough so she can take care of it herself. Any ideas?

She has no perm at this time... and she has no desire to do her own hair. I'm trying to make it simple.. OK, pretend I know nothing... My daughter is Biracial, and I am white, and I've always cornrowed her hair and left in in for a week or so then, washed it and greased it, and started all over. She's 13... it's time to get a little girly!

this is the way i wear my hair and i am 24! this style last about nine days..

i answered your other question..when you find a salon get your daughters hair in twist and then tell the stylists to roller set the rest of her hair...she will not have to fool with her hair for at least a week

make sure you use coconut oil to rub on her scalp every other day and buy a really good sheen spray...for a thirteen year old i recommend pink oil...when you get the style done buy a hairnet so the curls will last longer and then by a bonnet to put over it when she goes to sleep at night

good luck

If you do get it relaxed, you will have to tech her how to properly take care of her hair. Otherwise she will be bald. Do a press wrap style to see if she can keep it up.

well if she's a tomboy then relaxing it will only make it worse... it'll fall out b/c she won't maintain it correctly... if you value her hair you'll keep braiding it until she eventually grows out of her tomboyish phase and decides to become more feminine.

Yeah i would put twisties in her hair, or you can use ponytails; they're easy to put in your hair.
