As a alternative to digital camcorder, I am planning to purchase a good digital camera with movie mode w/sound
Please, recomend the best one for me.

ALL digital cameras these days come with movie modes, and most with sound. (ok, except DSLRs). Try to narrow it down by your digicam needs first.

On another note, while you can take videos with digicams, they make lousy videocameras.

Digital camcorders are cheap as hell and far superior to the purpose than a movie mode on your camera. I've got an old Sony Handcam and the thing far outperforms any digital camera. The dang thing can even film in total darkness without a visible light (uses some sort of invisible infrared light).

I just don't see any purpose behind the movie mode you see on some cameras.

I have a Canon SD500 and it takes pretty good movies and picks up sound very well! However, you have to buy a bigger memory card for it if you want the movie to be a good quality or longer than a minute. It all depends on what your needs are. If you just want to be able to put stuff on Youtube or just email to friends, you could get away with a 512 MB card which is what I have. Hope this helps.
