Yesterday I went to Petco to buy food and treats for my birds, I took about one hour. When I came back my cockatiel was bleeding from his left wing because he got in a fight with one in the birds I took him out so I could clean the blood and put him in a box I was driving around the city so I could find a vet but their were only vets for dogs. So I want to cure him but I don't know how, can you help me?

Look in the phone book and start calling the vets. They may do birds too. He can get an infection, so call soon.

Was the other bird a cockatiel. He could have just broke a blood feather. Is there a big gash or anything? I would say if the bird is doing fine today..just keep an eye on it and make sure it's eating, it may have have been a blood feather. I'll tell ya, my tiel got bit by one of my female eclectus parrots. Extensive tissue damage and it pretty much crushed the bones in her leg. The leg was just dangling...was horrid but you know what, I took her to the vet and they didn't really do anything. Just put her on antibiotics so the wound wouldn't get infected and said it would heal and she may lose the leg. I didn't like that answer so I took her 2 hours to ANOTHER vet and he told me the same.
I would say..if she's not got any parts dangling or is still bleeding..it will heal on its own.
I'm sorry but the people at petco aren't going to be of any use to him. They hire high school student's that can barely clean their rooms let alone take proper care of or give adequate advise on the care of birds or any animal really. The people that actually do apply there that have wonderful knowledge about many animals they don't hire because they have to pay them to much.

They make powder 2 ru on wounds, but the easier way 2 do it is 2 rub bar soap against the part of the wing that is bleeding that will let it peel off so it will cover and stay on the wound. @ the same time call the vet and drive him there immediately. Keep the thing u covered him with in the car/vehicle whle ur driving just in case it comes off.

If you can't find a vet that will take birds in your area you can also see if you can find a store that specializes in birds. We have a store in my area that is extremely knowledgable about birds. You can always try one of those and see if they have any advice on how to care for it. Although you may not be able to do anything to help your cockatiel. He might just have to heal on his own. Good luck!

Normally fights between birds isn't that serious the blood will clot and look messy for a couple of days clean the wound with Anti septic and nature will take care of the rest.

I think you should go to PetCo with your cockatiel. Then ask them about it. Or you could ask PetCo for local avians.

Call an exotic vet or the zoo. You need to make sure he is ok.
