Jesus's cross was made from a Dogwood tree. Dogwoods used to be very large, sturdy trees, they grew very strong, very fast, and very tall. Then Jesus was crucified they used the Dogwood its said because the strength of it could hold the weight of any man. After Jesus was crucified Its said that Jesus said that never again would the dogwood tree be used to crucify man, so the trees now grow very small and they are very feeble and fragile so that they can not hold the weight of a man, also they do not grow straight anymore. They are now split down the middle, it is said that this is where the tree split when they cut it down to make Jesus's cross. Also the blooms are usually white or pink with a red center. The white bloom stand for purity and the red center stands for the blood that Jesus shed on the day that he was crucified. The pink blooms are supposed to signify the mixture of Jesus's blood and his purity.

A Jesse tree is something completely different. That refers to the fact that David was the son of Jesse. David came from the root of Jesse. David was the founder of the House of David. Joseph was of the house of David and because he was married to Mary the mother of Jesus, they say Jesus also was sprouted from the root of Jesse. At Christmas, there is a ceremony of putting ornaments on a tree. The ornaments represent all of the important people in the Bible leading up to the birth of Jesus. The final ornament to be put on the tree is the one representing the newborn Jesus.
The legend of the cross of Jesus is that it was made from the wood of the dogwood and now the dogwood is to be small and weak so that it can no longer be used for that purpose.

The type of wood used for Jesus's cross, is not mentioned in the Bible. A poem was written sometime ago about the dogwood tree because it's blossoms take on the shape as a person on a cross, but that is highly unlikely. There is also a tale that is was in fact seeds from the Tree of Life that Adam and Eve took the forbidden fruit. It was said that as Adam was approaching death, he sent his son Seth to the Garden of Eden to get some juice from the Tree of Life, Seth supposedly found the tree and his brother Cain entangled in the limbs, but the angel forbade him to take the juice therein, but allowed him to take three seeds. It is said that Adam was so over joyed with the seeds that he was contented to die and swallowed the seeds. Three days later he died, and the seeds grew from his grave. Then Noah was to have dug the tree up and took it in the ark, and planted on mountain, again no record in the Bible of that happening either.
Although the plaque that was inscribed above Jesus's head was found, they believe, and it was made of walnut.

**what type of wood was jesus's cross made out of? I've heard it called a jesse tree, but what tree is that?
Good question.
Well the Bible says Absalom was hanged on an oak tree.
2 Samuel 18:10
When one of the men saw this, he told Joab, "I just saw Absalom hanging in an oak tree."
However Jesus they say was just hung on a tree.
Acts 5:30
The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead—whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree.
The below site talks about Jesus and a Jesse tree.
Check it out.
