middle income earnings received, if i remember correctly, between $40-$60, while the top 1% received $85K. clearly the top was the big winner. yet the middle class is getting crushed by high energy prices, lower wages, disfunctional health care, and outsourcing of jobs.then the whole iraq mess, immigration,....maybe my question should be....why support bush when he's hurting you?

Middle income in 2005 was $50,000-$100,000.
16% made over $100,000
Media income was $55,000
Biggest % of tax cuts went to lower & middle income - esp. the tax credits. Wages, fuel, health care & etc is a private industry problem - when we start trying to encourage private businesses
to pay proper wages instead of expecting the President to fix problems he has no control over then we will all continue to be better off. My husband has had no tax cuts but his income has doubled in 4 years under President Bush - looked for better job & pay & suceeded into that 16%.

You should really do your research, tax cuts help support jobs and the economy. The people at the very top are paying more taxes than you make in a salary so yes when tax cuts happen they appear to be better off. Put it this way, if it is a 10% tax break across the boards the guy who is paying $10,000 gets more of a break than the guy that is paying $100 and ya know those people who don't pay taxes? They don't get a break BECAUSE THEY DON'T PAY IN THE FIRST PLACE! So maybe you should do more research I would allow a company to get a tax break because that frees up more of their income to HIRE MORE PEOPLE! Amazing when you actually do your homework the TAX CUTS WORK

I have to tell you that I support the tax cuts.
I was working my butt off making $10.00 an hour. Working weekends coming back in at night for testing. (I am a QA Analyst)
One of my co-workers moved on to a better job and a couple months later called and asked if I would like to join his new company. The company I now work for pays a great deal more and I no longer work weekends and nights.
How did I get this job? Well, the company got a tax cut and as a direct result had the money to hire me. To top it all off we just hired my former boss and plan to hire one more. All because of the tax cut.

This "hate the rich" chant is getting old. Really old. If you paid more in, you deserved to get more back. It's just that simple.
Let's say that you're at a restaurant and you're splitting a check with your friends. You discover that you put in a $50 instead of a $20. Should that extra money be returned to everyone in the group, or to you alone? Would you give the $30 to the person with the lowest salary? Wouldn't that be more fair in your eyes?

Lowering tax rates is always a good thing - they were too high.
As for the top 1%, they got to keep more of their money because they started with so much more, and because they pay so much more. 1% of a million is more than 1% of 50,000. How stupid does one have to be to think this means they somehow benefitted more? Actually, their share of the total tax burden went up, even though their rates were reduced.
As for the problems, what is killing this economy is the welfare state and its tax burden. Legitimate, constitutional spending is probably less than 40% (more likely less than 30%) of the current $2.4 trillion budget.
I'll take my chances with the party that isn't enamored with idiotic socialist ideas or marxist class warfare policies or anarchist anti-corporation foolishness.
