I remember this episode of Star Trek where this guy had to fight with his evil version between dimensions for eternity - that would suck

The worst thing that can happen, of course, is that one's soul is eternally separated from God.

This eternal separation is commonly referred to as Hell -- which is better thought of as a spiritual state, rather than a place.

Hell is real. As a practicing Catholic, the one Catholic doctrine that I wish were not true is the doctrine that Hell exists.

But it's mentioned at least two dozen times in the New Testament -- often in vivid and painful detail -- so, there it is.

The best way to avoid Hell, of course, is to believe in Jesus Christ and to live our lives in such a way as to not go there.

I guess I have a different take. . .

Hell would be tollerable, if I could have God with me. So, the worst that could happen to my soul would be the eternal separation from God.

Freefall. Make sure you don't die in orbit, or worse yet in deep space. You must maintain a gravity (or inertial) feild to stay connected. Hell may be hot, but you can get really lost in space.

p.s. Your soul is fine, your spirit may lack divinity, but that's ok too...

It could be reincarnated as a fart? It could run into an electric fence and dissapate or multiply. It could magically vanish when you breath your last.
