Do NOT use your sister's inhaler. It is probably not asthma, so that would not help, also many asthma medicines are not safe during pregnancy. It could be the baby pushing up on you combined with the typical pregnancy stuffy nose that is making you feel that you cannot breathe. If this came on suddenly or you begin to feel lightheaded, please go to the emergency room. It is likely to be nothing or it could be a panic attack, but it is best to have it checked out. If this is not sudden, and you think you can hold on, get in to see your doctor as soon as possible to see if he or she can provide you with any relief. It is very likely that a nasal spray that would open your nasal passages would make you feel much better. Hang in there, and don't use the inhalor!

ok I really wanted to be sarcastic here but decided that wouldn't be nice because you're scared but really haven't you heard the latest? NEVER SHARE ANY MEDICATIONS WITH ANYBODY!!!
It's dangerous esp since you're pregnant. Inhalors are medication. How dangerous is it: In the news last year a young girl complained of not being able to breathe. Her friend who has asthma shared her inhalor to help her. Sweet but the girl died later that day. I'm 23 wks pregnant and I have a hard time breathing as well. Wonderful what pregnancy does. It only gets better from here. You know with the swollen hands and feet, dark patches on your face, back, neck, and stomach, itching like crazy, pruiritic rash, (I developed on my back then spread to my stomach...looks like heat rash), the list goes on...LOL
When I lay flat on my back I can't breath so I prop with pillows, laying on my side (left or right) is not comfortable for me. But from here on out pillows will be your best friend...love your pillows...stretching and moderate exercise is really beneficial at this stage, deep belly breathing, yoga... and just take it slow and get plenty of rest. And of course like with all questions and concerns, ask your doctor... Congrats!!!

DO NOT USE YOUR SISTER'S INHALER!!!! There are many inhalers that can be used during pregnancy, but each are prescribe to people according to their symptoms and other variables. If you were to use your sisters, it could not only harm your baby, but also cause you to have major heart failure or other problems (remember model Nikki Taylor's sister that died in the middle fo the night, that was from an over the counter inhaler).
Its not uncommon to be out of breath during pregnancy. As your baby gets bigger, he/she pushes on your diaphragm and makes it harder for you to get a full breath in. Also, your body is now carrying a ton of extra weight making it more work for your to move at a normal pace. Its kinda like you are constantly doing an aerobic exercize so your breathing harder.
I would recommend telling your doctor and they will listen to your lungs and assess whether or not you need an inhaler prescribed (one that they know is alright for you and alright for pregnancy).
In the meantime, before you get in to see your doc though, try changing positions when you feel like you cant catch your breath. This will move baby out of your diaphragm and hopefully help you open up your lungs. A good position to try is getting on your hands and knees and letting baby hang below you. Also, take more time to rest more often while you are doing daily stuff. Like if you feel you are getting out of breath from walking in the super market, stop and take a seat for 5 minutes.

You really need to talk to your doctor about this. IF you are not satisfied with the answer, seek a second opinion. I had this problem in my last pregnancy with the twins, and I was stuck in bed from the 4th month. The doctors I had never figured out that my heart was too enlarged until I had a heart attack 30 days after having the twins. Get it checked out girl, it's not just your life, it's the life of your baby!

I had that. I remember I couldn't take in a full breath. Think about it... your organs have less and less room to function. You prob should ask your obstetrician before taking any medication. Yahoo is not a good place to seek medical advice. Any idiot can tell you it's ok. I would see your doc. I had the same thing tho. I still get it if I eat too much or if my allergies act up. Don't panic just see your doctor asap!

I had that too, the baby was pushing up into my lungs and couldn't get my breathe back.
Call your doc and let him/her know since they already know your med history through the pregnancy.
Never use any other person's medications, Asthma is from the chambers in the lungs closing up, etc, not from being pregnant.

Do not use your sister's inhalor. That is taking medicine without it being prescribed to you, which is scary anytime but especially when pregnant. Call your doctor.

I am 7 months pregnant. It gets hard for me to breath at times when I walk. I also seem to get winded. I talked to my ob and he said that this is normal. Just take it easy when walking, don't try to walk to fast. I would no recommand using your sisters inhaler. I have asthma but have not had a attack in a couple of years. That inhaler is specifically for her. Don't use it. Go back to your ob and speak to them again. But once again don't use the inhaler
