Play with her more, ask your vet about a special diet for her.

I have the same problem with my cat. She;s only a year and a half and probably weights about 20 pounds! She is a big kitty. I recently got another kitten for her to play with and the kitten does make her more active but she is still pretty heavy. She likes to gobble up all the kitten food when I'm not home. Before I got the kitten I had to restrict her food and it seemed to help but now its more difficult because I want the kitten to have some food too. Some cats are just fat I think. But diet and exercise seem to work for cats the same way they do us!

Get her a kitten! Trust me! I have a 16 week old kitten that is running my 6 year into the ground. I haven't seen my 6 year old that active in forever and I am starting to see a difference in her weight. In addition, you can also get her one of those rug houses that they can jump up on and play on....exercise is just as important for pets as it is for humans.

Aerobics, no really there is nothing you can do besides cutting back on food. Once a lazy cat, always a lazy cat, I had one just like that. Tried waving toys in front of it and it would just look at me like I was nuts. Though if you tie something to their tail they will go crazy for awhile and get a little exercise there, just kidding don't do that.

Get high qualtiy cat food that's designed for overweight cats. Don't buy supermarket food. Get real quality food like Nutro or Blue. Proper nutrition is a good start.

Proper diet. That means the right food, not necessarily less food. Read this and you'll know more about feline nutrition than most vets:
