HE is FIVE... they are like that...
WHY? because you take TERRIBLE TWOS and TRY IT ALL THREES and then you have a five year old brat that wants his/her way!
Try doing FUN STUFF with him he just wants attention and will be as obnoxious as h#LL until he gets it.
BUT deal with him, tell him you will do FUN stuff if he let's you have YOUR TIME...
5 year olds really understand a lot.
Tell him sometimes you feel upset or angry and that is not a good time for him to bug you...
ASK him if he would like You screaming at him when he feels sad or tired...
Ask him how he would feel if he...
DOES WHAT EVER HE DOES TO YOU...
ALSO acknowledge his Anger. ask him about it and WHY he feels mad...
Say
I understand that >>>>>>makes you mad.
But your acting THIS WAY is not right.
Tell him you get mad about things too but do not act bad when things do not go your way.
Teach him by example.
You do not say your age, I hope you are old enough to be carrying on the responsibility of taking care of a five year old.
They can be a pain, but he is your brother. Remember you used to be FIVE TOO!

Unless he's just an undisciplined brat or you are just being sensitive, your brother may just have a common medical condition known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Talk to your parents about an medical evaluation. There are many websites that offer [free] questionnaire to help identify the symptoms.
Good Luck!!

I have a little sis that is 4 and turning 5 in September. I have learned that u should ignore them, if they r happy leave them alone, If they ask u to play with thgem say yes in a good attitude and play whatever they want and dont take over of what you and them r playing let them, if u get into a fight TRY to talk through it and work it out, if that dosent work then like I said just IGNORE them, but if they r throwing something at u then go up to ur room and let them be. Well I hope that this helps.

When a young child is that angry there is normally an underlying cause. See if you can find out what is making him so angry. Young children act out when they don't know any other way to handle a difficult situation they are in.
This happened to both my son and my nephew - both had been molested by a person they trusted. I pray to the Goddess that this is not what is going on with your little brother, but you need to find out what is hurting him.
Treat the cause, not the symptoms.
Blessings

5 is such a GREAT age! It's right up there with 13! Try reading a book to him or engaging him in other quiet activities. Keep your voice quiet, even if he's yelling -- he'll have to quieten down in order to hear you! God Bless!

Next time he makes you mad throw a tantrum. A good one so that he will know how other people feel when someone throws a tantrum.

Tell your Mom, sounds like he needs a little discipline. A few spanks won't kill him and may be what he needs to settle down.

maybe you should try getting him a punching bag that he can use when he's angry...try to show him some healthy ways to deal with his anger, like counting slowly to ten, talking about it, etc.
