I live in America, and my friend from Finland wants to call me. What number(s) does he need to put in front of my phone number, in order to reach me? And what number(s) do I need to put in front of his Finnish phone number in order to reach him?

I hope this question doesn't sound too complicated!

for him to call you he needs to put 001 infront of your number
i.e. 001-XXX-XXX-XXXX
he does not needs to use 011 for calling to US.
for u to call him in finland you need to call him like shown below
011 + Country Code + City (if applicable) + Local number
011-358+ City (if applicable) + Local number

To call Finland, dial 011-358-City Code- and the number. (The country code is 358. The city code comes next. For example: Helsinki is 9, Turku (Abo) is 2 and Vaasa is 6). To dial the US from Finland you will need to find out the International Access Number and then the country code, which is usually the number 1 followed by your city code which is the same as your area code and finally your number. This access code can be obtained by phoning the operator in Finland or by looking in their Phone book. Hope this helps.

You'll have to call the international operator which can be found in the front of your local phonebook and ask.

According to my phone book the country code for Finland is 358, I believe you will also have to have a city code which I believe would be considered the area code.

that would mean you will have to dial 011 (011) means internation access then 358 (country code) area code or city code (000) plus the phone number of you friend.

Or dial zero for operator ask for the international operator and ask for the proper codes. Your friend will have to do the same because the country code for America is not listed in my phone book, but should be listed in his.

Operator assisted calls are more expensive, ask for the proper codes because you wish to dial direct for cheaper calling.

Both of you would need to use 011, which is the International access code. To dial Finland, dial 358, which is the country code, then 9 for Helsinki, 2 for Turku, or 6 for Vaasa, then the local telephone number. He would dial 011, then 1, which is the U.S. country code, then your area code, then your number.
