I can think of three answers for this question, (1) When you drink soda, it give you a quick burst of energy which can make you possibly run faster. (IE: look how hyper little kids get then they drink too much soda) (2) on the other hand, it can make you gain weight, because of the sugar; more weight, the harder the run. and (3) it dehydrates you, which makes you want more, and more of it, but it doesn't do anything to help replenish the water that you are now missing from your system.

The sugar in soda dehydrates you very quickly. This makes your body start to slow down to where it is hard to run.
If you r a sprinter however i have heard that sugar can give you a bit of a "rush" and you will get an energy boost for a lot while.

I'm sure it would because it has caffeine in it, which dehydrates you and could be dangerous when running. There is also the sugar and the carbonation which aren't good either. It is best to stick with water.

it makes you retain water from the carbonation. so yes i guess it can make you run a little slower considering your carrying more water.
