About 4 days ago i was playing with my German Sheperd, I gave her a big hug and then i felt my throat starting to sting. I didn't feel a bite it just started stinging and then it spread thru all of my neck, it was awful, there was pain and that awful burning, stinging sensation and i couldn't do anything about it. It didn't itch either, it just stung. For the first couple days i could see just a red spot but no bump, then on the third day the red spot became a red bump and now it itches. I doubt it was a mosquito bite because i've gotten mosquito bites before but it never felt like this. Could it of been a tick or a flea. If it was a tick or flea could this affect my pregnancy, if i am pregnant. Please help...

It was NOT a spider bite especially not a brown recluse ( my 2 year old daughter just had surgery for a brown recluse spider bite) A spider bite actually develops a white head ( like a pimple). It wasn't a tick bite because when ticks bite they stick around for a moment(they stick to you until you physically remove them) It's possible it was a flea bite, but they tend to itch shortly after. Not a fire ant they come in packs. Maybe a sweat bee or something is what I'm thinking it was. I wouldn't worry usually an allergic reaction occurs very quickly with a bug bite/ sting ( the spider bite my baby had required hospitalization within 12 hours and surgery within 24) I truly think you got stung. use a antihistamine cream it will take the swelling (the bump) down. You should be fine.

No, sounds like a recluse spider, or fiddler spider bite- - you can get some papaya tablets crush them up finely- add a few drops of water and apply the paste to the infected area- this draws out the poison- or you can use any meat tenderizing spice(Adolfs) to do the same-they contain the enzyme papain
a baking soda and water paste to take the pain away.-
As always, if things get worse - consult your physician-
Best wishes if you are pregnant.

The only concern with the pregnancy is your not supposed to administer antihistamines such as Benedryl to children under 1, so by default I would try to avoid them. It sounds more like a spider bite, painful, I don't know where you live, but if it was a brown recluse spider you would absolutely know it.

Do your best to avoid infection, and go see a doctor. Better safe . . .

Check for spider bites. Especially brown recluse spiders.

Good luck!

well first, you should take a pregnancy test and you should also go to the doctor. if you are pregnant, you should be safe instead of sorry.

It may have been a spider or a fire ant.
