i need help finding a dog brush thats portable and really works

Most pet supply stores carry a variety of dog brushes. I guess I don't really understand your question because I've never seen a non-portable dog brush. Most fit in a purse or pocket or dog carrier. There are several varieties of brushes for different type of dogs. We had one (from the pet supply store) that looked more like a comb with heavy bent metal teeth; it glided right through the mats and tangle of our long-haired mutt. It looked like some Medieval instrument of torture, but worked beautifully and didn't hurt the dog. Our short-haired dogs got brushed with a softer brush, of course, since they never had tangles.

try asking your vet to see what he/she recommends for the type of dog you own.
