a lot of people think so, but i own a bar and laugh at the applications of people who went to bartending school. it is a waste of time. just because you know how to make 100 drinks that no one is ever going to order does not mean you are a bartender. i hired a guy that had gone to bartender school (never bartended in a club) and put him behind the bar on our busiest night. he quit within an hour. get a job as a waiter first and then work your way up. that way you learn the ins and outs of that bar and can be trained the way that your boss wants. then if they want you to go to school, it makes it worth it.

where i live there several bartending schools and wether or not you go largely depends on where you want to work, the top nightclubs and the 5 and 4 star resturaunts will want an education..the dives ,neighborhood bars and chain resturaunts
really dont care. So if you want a really good drink come to some of our best martini bars in minneapolis and you will see what a difference an education makes

Not all clubs need bartenders thet go to school. In my town in pa we have a VFW which is a club. They hire local people going to college near by. And the college does not have a bartending course.
