On the Islamic calendar this date will be the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427, the commemoration of Muhammad's "night journey".
The Shiite belief is that by throwing the world into destructive chaos, the "13th Imam" will come, who is basically the Muslim messiah.
Iran's lunatic president Ahmadinejad has made several references to this date.

"What is the significance of August 22? This year, August 22 corresponds, in the Islamic calendar, to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427. This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to 'the farthest mosque', usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (cf, Koran XVII.1). This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and, if necessary, of the world."

There's nothing about 8-22, but 8-25 is the first of the Islamic month of Sha'baan. This is the month just before Ramadan, and Muslims use this month for voluntary fasts. It helps to prepare for the Ramadan fasting.

Forget 8-22-06. If u want I can give a thousand dates. Why should any one care ? In Islam 786 is very important. wear this no. and u'l be always safe. 786 means Bismillah ul Rehman. All muslims start anything with 786.

i thought they have 786 , written in arabic it means holy sign. like cross for Christians or Aum for Hindus, 8-22-06 is not having any Islamic relavance. it only means 22nd august of 2006, one week past Pakistan's independance day.

Huh? would desire to you provide me a source of a few form or a reference? i do no longer undergo in innovations interpreting approximately any Imam. Are you conversing in regards to the shi'tes or another Muslim denomination? Muslims have a number of denominations purely like the Christians. Jenova

Nothing, we don't have special dates. Our only hoildays are Ramadan and Eid and they began at the end or beginning of a month twice a year at differnt months because we go by the lunar calender.

Hmm... usually, there are no numbers or dates that are specific in the Islamic calendar. Just the date of Eid ul Adha is solid on the calendar, and we believe ALLAH is ONE. :) So, I'm not quite sure what you are asking of. :)
